Regulars Life

Get to know the people you already see.

The nods. The half-smiles. The “see you Thursday”. Regulars makes every session count from day one, and helps you say hello to the people around you, sooner.

Free. For iPhone and Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS.

No chat. Nobody sees when you're there. Block or report anyone you meet through Regulars. How you stay in control

Regulars on an iPhone, checked in at a gym: 12 minutes in, four of your people here with their modes, eight people here and four open to chat
The Regulars watch app 12 minutes into a weight training session: 142 bpm, in the vigorous zone, 12 active minutes

You know this feeling.

Think of someone you've got to know through a class, a dog walk or a run. Your running partner. The couple from the class you now grab a coffee with.

It happened naturally. It just took months of nods before anyone said hello.

Our founder nodded to the same faces at the gym for years before finding out they worked in the same industries he had. The friendships were there all along. They just took far too long.

Everyone's waiting for someone else to go first.

People asked to talk to a stranger on their commute enjoyed it far more than they expected to.
Epley and Schroeder, University of Chicago, 2014
After a first conversation, people like us more than we think they do. Researchers call it the liking gap.
Boothby and colleagues, Psychological Science, 2018

So the problem isn't that people don't want to chat. It's that nobody can tell who does.

For you, from day one

Useful from your first session.

Wherever you are, whoever else is there.

  • Check in anywhere

The gym, a class, the pool, the beach, the park. Or log a dog walk from the sofa afterwards. Two taps, on your phone or your watch.

  • Your watch, properly

Heart rate, zones, active minutes, distance and pace, live on your wrist. Saved to Apple Health, so it sits with everything else.

  • Become a regular

Streaks with a shield for the weeks life gets in the way. Levels, badges and a place you're known at, earned by turning up.

  • Effort that's fair

Points come from effort against your own heart, not anyone else's. A brisk dog walk and a spin class both count. No calorie counting, ever.

The You tab in Regulars: level 10, this week 2 of 3 sessions, an 8-week streak, badges and becoming a regular

And the people around you

Show when you're up for a chat.

Pick a mode when you check in. Everyone knows where they stand before a word is said.

How are you feeling today?

Up for a hello today. Your connections and friends can see it.

Your mode resets when you leave. Only your connections and friends see it.

  1. Something to talk about

Challenges, classes and things you have in common give you an easy first line. “You were three seconds apart on today’s row” is easier than “hello”.

  2. Private suggestions

Now and then we suggest someone whose routine already overlaps with yours, with the reasons why. You’re only introduced if you both say yes. Nobody ever sees a no.

  3. Then go and say hello

There’s no chat in the app. It gives you a reason to talk, then gets out of the way.

Friendship takes hours. You're already putting them in.

Time spent together counts far more than time spent side by side. Regulars helps turn the hours you already spend near people into time together: a coffee after class, a run you planned, the Friday walk. Check in together with “Here with” and it counts.

And the people you already have.

Your brother at the other end of the country. The friend who moved away. The old running mate you only see at Christmas. Invite them, and you'll see what they've been up to this week: a swim, a walk, a new class. Give them a nod. Find out what you've got in common. No messages to keep up with, nothing to reply to.

Friends see what you've done this week, never the day or the time. Nobody is ever shown that you've had a quiet week. You choose what they see, and can switch any of it off.

Today in Regulars: your people this week. Alex out 3 times; Ben out once; Maya out twice, became a regular at Harbour Fitness; Priya out twice, tried Pilates. Together this week, 7 of 10, with Alex and Priya. A nearby event: a women's lifting session on Thursday
Together this week in Regulars: you, Alex and Priya, 7 of 10 sessions. Every session any of you checks in counts towards one total, and nobody sees who did what

Wherever you're a regular.

  • The gym floor

The same faces at the same racks, three times a week.

  • The early class

Twelve people who suffer together every Tuesday.

  • The dog walk

Where everyone knows the dogs’ names and not each other’s.

  • The weekend run

The same pace, the same stretch of seafront, every Sunday.

  • The beach and the water

Paddlers, swimmers and sailors on the same tide.

  • The park and the club

Parkrun, the tennis courts, the rowing club, the pool.

Who's behind it.

Glenn

Founder. Watersports instructor, yacht captain with several Atlantic crossings behind him, and once the lead on a global digital transformation. Built Regulars after years of nodding to the same faces at the gym.

Will

Co-founder and developer. Builds the apps, the watch apps and the privacy rules underneath them.

Questions people ask.

Is this a dating app?

No. Regulars is about the people you already see at the things you do: training partners, friends and familiar faces you’d like to say hello to.

What if I just want to train?

Choose Noise cancelling and you’ll be left alone. You still get your sessions, streaks, levels and watch tracking. You can switch suggestions off completely, too.

Who can see that I’m there?

Only your connections and friends, and only when you’re both checked in at the same place. Everyone else sees totals, never names.

Where does it work?

Anywhere. Check in at a gym, a beach, a park or a club, or log a walk. Suggestions start once a few regulars use the same place.

What do friends and family see?

What you’ve done this week and the places you’re a regular. Never the day, the time or where you are right now. If you’re both checked in at the same place, you’ll see each other there. You choose what they see, and can switch any of it off.

Does it work with friends who live far away?

Yes. You’ll see what they’ve been up to and what you’ve got in common, wherever they live. Suggestions for new people start once a few regulars use the same place.

Do I need a watch?

No. Your phone is enough. A watch adds live heart rate, zones and active minutes during your session.

Does it cost anything?

Regulars is free to download and use. Connections, suggestions and safety features will never be behind a paywall.

Which phones does it work on?

iPhone with Apple Watch, and Android with Wear OS.

Your regulars are already there.

Say hello sooner.

Start with someone you'd like to keep up with, wherever they live.
